Time for Some New Designs! Quilt My Phone has been around for just about 18 months now and, wow, have I learned a lot! For one thing, I learned that quilt shows are NOT the best place to sell my wares. That was a surprise for me but my attendance at three quilt shows during 2012 made that fact absolutely clear. The economics just don't work. The good news: I still had a great time at the shows and now I know that selling online is definitely the way to go! Another thing I learned was that this little business was taking up all available creative time and I was not making any of my own textile art. I couldn't seem to make it all work together. Working with the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum has been great and I have been able to contribute more via Quilt My Phone royalties than I ever could have as an individual. The same goes for the Bennington Museum. I'll continue to offer Museum Collection cases as long as there is interest. :) Going forward, I'll be making more art quilts (like "Wild Spirals") and blogging about them at cathleensavage.com. I hope you'll sign up to get my studio newsletter. I'll also be making a few more practical/useful quilts ( like "Elias Stripes") for friends and family. In both cases, I'll use some of the designs on my phone and electronics cases. In this way, I hope to satisfy my goal of continuing to offer new designs on Quilt My Phone while still being able to pursue my artistic goals. So, stay tuned! Click on the pics at the left or just visit the website to see more about the new designs. Thanks for visiting! Cathleen |
