I promised that when the QuiltMyPhone Twitter account reached 1,000 followers, I would start giving away quilt inspired stuff to the loyal folks who are on my mailing list. Well, that day has arrived, so let the fun begin!
So what do you have to do to win? Just be on the mailing list and leave a brief comment on the blog post for the week. I'll use random.org to select a winner from everyone on my mailing list who enters a blog comment for that week. The winner's name will be announced in next week's blog post on Friday, September 7.This week's giveaway prize is a 10" neoprene zippered case that features the Thornburg Log Cabin quilt from the Permanent Collection of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. The case is so versatile. It holds any 10" tablet (iPad 1,2,and 3; Toshiba Thrive, Galaxy Tab 10, etc.), netbook, or Kindle plus charger and cords. It is great for travel and it easily slips into a briefcase or carry-on bag. I have been told that it also works great as a travel case for piecework. The classic design is appropriate for men and women. And, the neoprene fabric helps protect your electronic stuff from bumps and scratches too. So get those comments in by Thursday, September 6!
New Preppy Vintage Design There is so much going on at Quilt My Phone that I hardly know where to begin! So I'll just jump in. First, I have a new vintage quilt design called Preppy Vintage. The quilt that inspired the design was being sold on ebay as a "cutter" quilt -- that is, one meant to be cut up and used for crafts, etc. I saw it and just fell in love with the pink and green color scheme. It reminded me of my days at the University of Virginia when "preppy" was the style. Pink and green ruled! One reason it is a new favorite is that you can see every single bit of wear and tear that the quilt has seen, faithfully reproduced in fine detail on the flexible plastic case.It is shown on an iPhone 4/4s case in the photo but it is also available for many other models. Looks especially good on a white phone! To see this design and more, visit the website. Diary of a Quilter Giveaway Winner! For the past few days I have been getting packages in the mail that contain some of the quilts that will be part of the Quilt My Phone image collection. Below is a sneak peek at one of them that I think will be great for adding a monogram or initials. Love the little hearts in the background quilting! Now, back to the creating...
Thanks for visiting the site, which is almost ready to launch! It has been a wild month since I first had the idea for Quilt My Phone while in Houston, Texas at the International Quilt Festival. I'm still lining up vintage quilt sources, and setting up the website to accommodate online shopping as well as use during quilt shows.
The key to succeeding, I think, is to assemble a very high-quality set of quilt and textile images and that has not been easy. To kickstart the collection, I have purchased some vintage quilts and I am in the process of having them professionally photographed. One of them will be selected for the background to the Quilt My Phone logo. But I can't do that forever or I'll exhaust my resources!
Several leads to great photographic sources are in the works but if you like the idea of promoting quilt images on phones and laptops, and you know of a source for high-quality quilt images, please send them my way! This is one of the vintage quilts that is enroute! Not a great photograph but it gives you a good idea of the yummy colors headed my way!
